Adelheid and her Murders

The satirical German crime series, Adelheid and her Murders, produced from 1996 to 2006, revolves around secretary Adelheid Mobius (played by Evelyn Hamann), employed at the Crime Department 2 in Hamburg.

The investigators of Crime Department 2 attempt to solve a committed murder in every episode of the series. Detective Chief Ewald Strobel (played by Heinz Baumann), head of Crime Department 2, sends his employees to do research in the current issue. As Ms. Mobius always wants to influence the investigation, Strobel is constantly trying to hide the details of a new case from her.

Of course, his attempts to solve the case without the interference of his secretary always fail. Adelheid Mobius investigates each case by looking at the particular scene and secretly listening to the witnesses. In the course of her investigations, Adelheid Mobius is by no means squeamish and lies shamelessly about their skills within the police force or even conceals the she is with the police and investigates undercover instead.

She is assisted by her ex-husband, patrolman Eugene Mobius(played by Gerhard Garbers), who, initially unconvinced, always ends up helping out his still beloved Adelheid. As part of her investigation, Adelheid Mobius usually take notes about issues that her colleagues have missed in their investigations.

And while Detective Chief Strobel and her colleagues, Inspector Dieter Pohl (played by Dieter Brandecker) and Inspector Gernot Schubert (played by Tilo Pruckner) are still in the dark, Adelheid Mobius enjoys her detective hobby and finally identifies the facts that lead to solving the case.

The very entertaining and witty series thrives on the interaction of the individual characters. Head of Criminal Department 2, Strobel, wants to conceal information from his secretary and would mostly like to be left in peace. Commissioner Pohl and his colleague, Commissioner Schubert, who often are not very sympathetic, are scared off by their supervisor through the area.

Adelheid Mobius, speaking her mind, takes on the investigations herself. Patrolman Eugene Mobbius, who always tries to remain faithful to his duties, only rarely manages to when his ex-wife, Adelheid, gets a wild idea. And of course, Rosa Muller-Graf Kleditsch (played by Gisela May), Adelaide's mother, with whom she lives in a spacious apartment in Hamburg.

In the third season, the previously retire Schubert is replaced by Commissioner Schilling (played by Oliver star). It is worth watching how Inspectors Pohl and Schilling repeatedly try to outdo each other while both never come a step further. Detective Strobel prefers delegating duties while taking a nap on the sofa in his office.

Another feature of the series is that every episode ends with the involved investigators coming together to finally clear up the case. In season five, a further feature of the series was introduced. The hitherto little-known Crime Department 1 is introduced as Crime Department 2’s rival.

The verbal quarrels between Strobel and his supervisor, Dr. Heimeran, and later director Dunnwald (played by Hans-Peter Korff) is also one of the running gags of the series, as well as the subsequent dialogue between Adelheid Moebius and her mother, Rosa Muller-Graf Kleditsch.

Adelheid: Mommy? Mother: Don’t mommy me! Adelheid: Okay, mommy.

Unfortunately, there was no real finale of the series, as lead actress Evelyn Hamann succumbed to her battle with cancer on 28 October 2007. Further episodes have been planned for some time, but the ill Evelyn Haman asked for a hiatus because of her health condition and was no longer able to set to return.
