Commissioner Pohl (played by Dieter Brandecker) also belongs to the investigators of the Crime Division 2 in the series Adelheid and her Murders and is also a subordinate of the Head of the Department, Chief Inspector Strobel.
He usually gets along with his boss very well, which is also due to the fact that Pohl obeys the commands of his superior. Like Strobel, he also believes that Adelheid Mobius, as secretary of the department, should not interfere in the investigation and thus constantly put herself at risk.
Dieter Pohl has had a relationship with Marion Bachmann for many years, who worked as an employee in the office of an attorney. After the wedding was initially postponed indefinitely due to the intervention of Ewald Strobel, Dieter and his Marion did at last walk down the aisle together.
Since the organist, however, committed suicide on this day, the wedding had to again be postponed for a short time, so that the two finally became a married couple.
The marriage was short-lived, however, as was the separation through which Marion left her husband. At this time, other changes also followed in Marion Pohl's life, working in a doctor's office before establishing her own business. This profession would, however, cost her her life later on because she was murdered.
After Dieter Pohl was able to get over his heartache, he set out again to meet women through personal ads or on the Internet. Apparently he wasn’t yet ready for a new relationship at that time, because neither of these lasted for too long.
This only changed when he was introduced by Chief Inspector Strobel to Wichtrud Schaller, the secretary of Crime Department 1. After the director of the Homicide Division, Dunnwald, reached the conclusion that competition is good for business, he initiated a competition between the two departments. Chief Inspector Strobel relies on Commissioner Pohl, to gather information about the enemy.
Pohl remains little choice but to make the wishes of his superiors come true. As part of his spying activities, Pohl grows a liking for Wichtrud Schaller, who is also not indifferent to his advances.
Gradually, a relationship develops between the two, however, they first conceal it. When Wichtrud becomes pregnant, however, they make their relationship public and marry.
