Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele
Stephanie Zimbalist as Private Detective Laura Holt
Storyline
Hollis works at the department for disposal of old banknotes at the Federal Bank. One day, the employee steals two million dollars which were originally scheduled for disposal and initially hides the money in his car.
Shortly after, the car gets stolen and Remington Steele makes Hollis’ acquaintance when he wants to throw himself of a bridge because of the car theft. The private investigator manages to stop him and he is told by Hollis how it ever came to the theft and about his suicide plan.
He intended to help his friend, Angelica, with the stolen money, but this is no longer possible. Remington Steele and Laura Holt agree to help Hollis. They quickly realize that Angelica has apparently nothing to do with the disappearance of the money, because the detectives cannot find her any more than the stolen car.
Hollis is shortly after shot, whereupon he decides to go into hiding for the time being. Meanwhile, Laura and Remington finally succeed in finding the missing Angelica. During a conversation she expresses her desire to cooperate. Angelica tells the two private detectives that she had forced Whitcomb, head of the disposal department, to join the scam.
However, it turns out that Whitcomb is already dead, so he could not have been approached by Angelica. Apparently another member of staff has pretended to be the head of the disposal department. Only the identity of this person is not currently known.
