Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele
Stephanie Zimbalist as Private Detective Laura Holt
Storyline
Because she believes that Remington Steele has flirted too much with their client, Nadine, Laura Holt suspends his expense account. This, however, gets Steele into trouble because he was relying on this expense account to settle his debts with loan sharks. Thus, the loan sharks are now threatening to kill him.
Jim Meacham is the one who comes to the rescue. He is the partner of Roger Dillon and commissions the Remington Steele Detective Agency to investigate a case of industrial espionage. To clarify the matter, he is of course willing to pay a generous sum.
Although Remington Steele has had his friend Wellis set up an alarm system in the office of the client, it is disabled during the same night by burglars. Much worse, however, is the fact that important documents were stolen during the break-in.
Naturally, the primary suspect is Wellis, who has formerly been a burglar. It appears to be clear that he was indeed the perpetrator when he is found dead carrying a large sum of cash.
Remington Steele and Laura Holt, however, do not really believe in this simplistic solution and set out to find Wellis’ murderer. Their investigation keeps leading to the company Meecham and Dillen, because the pathologist has found evidence that point to the real killer and an industrial spy during the autopsy.
