Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele
Stephanie Zimbalist as Private Detective Laura Holt
Storyline
The wealthy Silvia Gilbright throws a costume party and commissions detective Remington Steele to ensure the safety of her art collection.
Remington Steele, dressed as the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, mingles with the guests when one of them, namely Dan Curtin, is murdered. Meanwhile, the diary of Dobbs, a treasure hunter, which belonged to the collection of the hostess, is also stolen.
During the investigation it is revealed that the diary describes the path to a fabulous treasure. When this information becomes public, several ball guests start claiming the ownership of the diary.
Car dealer Flix Murieta explained that his ancestors had stolen the doubloons back in the day. But Captain Emmet DeVorce, computer expert McCormick, the young Kitty and Lou Cody explain why they are entitled to the diary.
In order to shed some light on the matter, Laura and Remington pretend that the stolen diary is in her office safe, and subsequently almost all of these people try to break into the detective agency and obtain the diary.
The only one who didn’t pursue such an attempt was Lou Cody. However, Cody is excluded from the circle of suspects after Laura and Remington find his dead body. Apparently looking for the treasure, Curtin was kidnaped to a western town and murdered by the killer.
It does not take long before all of the suspects make an appearance at the crime seen and start working together in pursuit of the treasure.
