Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele
Stephanie Zimbalist as Private Detective Laura Holt
Storyline
The terminally ill millionaire Ross Crocket has two adopted daughters, one of which has disappeared. Since he has only a short time to live, he commissions detective Remington Steele to track down, Roxie, Tracy’s twin sister, and to bring her back to him.
The detectives start the investigation immediately and, after some research, find Roxie, who is working in a cheap dive bar as a waitress. Meanwhile, Ross Crockett dies and a clause in the will states that the legacy of the deceased will fall into the hands of a public institution if Tracy does not attend a shareholders meeting that is to take place shortly.
Soon after, however, Tracy is kidnapped and the suspicion arises that someone wanted to prevent the heiress from participating in the shareholders meeting in order to gain the ownership of her inheritance.
Remington and Laura conduct their investigations under much pressure, but fortunately they also have a plan B if Tracy should not be found in the next 2 days.
This plan B involves Mildred Krebs turning Tracy’s twin sister Roxie from an ordinary waitress into a rich, spoiled woman, so that Roxie can participate in the meeting as her sister and inherit the legacy.
So while Mildred is working hard on the make-over, the private detectives continue their investigations. They succeed in determining the identity of Tracy's kidnappers. Eric, who has worked as a chauffeur for millionaire Crocket, has kidnapped his daughter and heir.
Unless Mildred succeeds in turning Roxie into her sister Tracy and can have her pass as the heiress at the shareholders’ meeting, Tracy is in life-threatening danger.
