Adelheid Mobius was born on 31 August 1950 as the daughter of Rosa Muller-Graf Kleditsch. She always believed her father to be Hermann Muller, her mother’s first husband, who died in the year that she was born. She only learns many years later that she is the child of a British soldier, who was during the in Hamburg during the occupation.
After boarding school, she attended the Police Academy, where she was among the best students. Her and Eugene Mobius’ civil ceremony took place in 1977 and the newlyweds spent their honeymoon on the East Frisian island Baltrum, one of the seven inhabited East Frisian Islands. In the same year, her stepfather, Hugo Kleditsch, died.
Since she was already pregnant with her son, Holger, at the time of her marriage, Adelheid had to drop out of the police academy. After Eugene was unfaithful to her, Adelheid divorced her husband and lives in the aftermath of her mother in a generously sized apartment in a well maintained building in Hamburg.
Over time, she became accustomed to being divorced, but she still kept in contact with her ex-husband as they are both employed at the Hamburg Police. She resists Eugene's advances, who repents his infidelity and still has hope, with great charm.
Adelheid Mobius (played by Evelyn Hamann) works as secretary at the Hamburg Police, Crime Department 2 and sits in Detective Strobel’s front room, having her office between Superintendent Strobel and Commissioners Schilling and Pohl. There is an aquarium with a goldfish on the wall to the office that is shared by Schilling and Pohl, which Mobius feeds every night.
Her greatest hobby is to solve criminal cases as an amateur detective. Just when the criminal instincts of Inspector Strobel are deep sleep, she can indulge in her hobby and throws herself fully into the investigation.
She does not shy away from going undercover or lying to respondents. But in any case, she goes about her research with much intuition, deduction and imagination.
She is aided in her unauthorized investigation by her ex-husband, Eugene Mobius, who travels in a police car through the area and often stands by her during her interviews to give the whole thing a more official feel. Eugene is not much bothered by the fact that he is breaching his duties bother.
While her boss and her colleagues usually still grope in the dark and do not have the slightest idea who could have committed the crime, secretary Adelheid Mobius is usually far ahead of the men. As part of her investigation, the intelligent Adelheid frequently gets herself in dangerous situations from which she is then rescued by Strobel and her colleagues.
For these same reasons, Strobel also tries to hide a new case from Adelaide every time, in order to avoid her conducting any unauthorized investigation.
After Evelyn Haman, the main character of the series Adelheid and her Murders, died of cancer in October 2007, the series was unfortunately discontinued.
