Randall and Hopkirk – Detectives with Soul

The British detective series Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) was broadcast from 1969 to 1970 in England.

The name givers, Jeff Randall (played by Mike Pratt) and Marty Hopkirk (played by Kenneth Cope), run a small detective agency together. The idea for the series originally appeared in the US, where it was screened under the name of My Partner, The Ghost. In Germany, however, only the British film version was broadcast.

Marty Hopkirk dies already in the first episode during his investigation in the case of a car accident. But he comes back as a ghost in the series. However, only his partner, Randall, and later 2 supporting actors in different episodes can see or hear him

Hopkirk subsequently assisted Randall in his investigations. Another important role is played by Annette Andre as Jeannie Hopkirk, the young widow of Marty Hopkirk, who works as a secretary in the detective agency.

A total of 26 episodes were broadcast. After just one season, the series was discontinued. In Germany, the series was aired Pro 7 starting from 1990. Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer played the leading roles in a remake of the series from 2000.
