Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele
Stephanie Zimbalist as Private Detective Laura Holt
Storyline
Laura Holt and Remington Steele are now married, so, as a Briton, Steele cannot be ordered out of the US by the immigration authorities. Their honeymoon, a generous gift from Mildred Krebs, sent the newly-weds to Mexico.
Norman Keyes, an official of the US. Immigration Authorities, has followed the couple to prove that this is indeed a sham marriage. Keyes was murdered in Mexico and Remington Steele ends up in jail because he is suspected of having killed Keyes.
Meanwhile, Laura and Mildred begin their investigation in order to determine the identity of the true murderer of Norman Keyes. The women are thereby assisted by archaeologist Tony Roselli.
Neither Laura, nor Mildred, know that Roselli is working for the Immigration Authorities, or that his investigations concern the marriage of Laura and Remington. Roselli, who has a Mexican girlfriend, may only bring her back to the US if he manages to prove that Remington and Laura have a sham marriage.
In the meantime, suspicions against Remington Steele have escalated due to the investigations of the police, whereupon Steele escapes with the help of Mildred Krebs from prison to also search for the real killer. Meanwhile, the investigation of his wife, Laura, has generated new information.
Based on her findings, the private detective is faced with two possibilities. On the one hand, there is the possibility that Daniella, the niece of Norman Keyes, has killed him.
However, it could also be that Keyes has faked his death just to let Remington be captured and imprisoned for his murder.
