Diane Mott Davidson was born on 22.03.1949 as the daughter of Admiral William Mott and his wife in Honolulu. Since her father was transferred again and again, she grew up in Maryland and Virginia and was a member of the Navy Juniors. This childhood in military circles has later been processed in the form of General Bo in her books.
After her graduation she studied at Stanford University and received her degree in art history and politics. During her studies, she met her future husband. Her biggest hobby was cooking, to which she devoted much time during her studies.
She attended numerous cooking classes at Stanford, read and reread the Sunset cookbook series and hardly ever missed a show of TV chef Julia Child.
She once said that cooking is a way for her to relax and serves as her well-being. Moreover, it is a form of expressing emotion.
Diane Mott Davidson worked for the Episcopal Church for 10 years. In 1981, she wrote to her Bible class a story about the doctrine of charity. Her next two literary works have not been published. She describes herself as a huge fan of mysteries and thrillers (Tom Clancy was one of her favourite authors) and decided in 1986 to write a thriller. From her work at a counselling centre for abused women she processed many events in her fictional character Goldy Bear.
Likewise, her experiences in the Episcopal Church entrance in her books and serve the detailed presentation of her heroine. The 1990 book published in the U.S. was Catering to Nobody. The book enjoyed great success and since the author writes a new novel every year about her series heroine Goldy Bear.
Goldy Bear is a single mother who runs a catering service and tries to forget the past with her ??violent ex-husband. The description of the framework in the novels are people occupying a large space in the books. The life and problems of being a single mother with financial problems are presented in detail.
Goldy Bear, manager of Goldilocks Catering service, keeps finding dead bodies in her line of work. These cases are solved with the help of her son, Arch, her adoptive son, Julian, her best friend Marla (her ex-husbands second wife) and policeman Tom Schulz, whom she married later
Since ideas for new novel emerge from the author’s personal experiences, she travels a lot and also comprises some events from the course of daily life.
Today, Diane Mott Davidson lives with her husband and their three sons in Evergreen, in the U.S. state of Colorado and enjoys her big hobby of cooking, and trying to protect her family from the media.
