Andreas Franz

Andreas Franz was born on 12.01.1954 in Quedlinburg and died on 13 March 2011. The family moved from Quedlinburg to Helmbrechts in Upper Franconia at the end of 1955. After his parents separated in 1967, Andreas Franz moved with his mother to London. Here he attended high school for 3 years, and then a language school. At the age of seventeen he made his degree in business English and French.

In subsequent years, Andreas Franz worked as a drummer in various bands, as a truck driver and in an advertising agency and then made ??a business education. Since the early 80’s, he created graphological reports and finally opened his own translation agency in 1990.

Since 1974, Andreas Franz was married to his wife, Inge. The couple had five children, including 2 children from his wife’s first marriage. Andrew and Inge Franz lived with their youngest child in Hattersheim near Frankfurt.

Andreas Franz wrote his first novel, The Finger of God, in 1986. Ten years later, in 1996, his first novel about the Commissioner of the Frankfurt homicide, Julia Durant, Young, Blonde, Dead was published. The author choose a female heroine for the simple reason that this genre consisted almost exclusively of male protagonists. He lmost always based his novels on real events shared by police officers through stories.

Andreas Franz had also written another series about Commissioner Peter Brandt of the Homicide Department Offenbach and a third series about the commissioners Soren Henning and Lisa Santos from Homicide Kiel apart from the stories about Commissioner Julia Durant in Frankfurt. In the course of the series his protagonists are developed further, which allows the characters to appear more realistic.

As Andreas Franz, knew Frankfurt and Offenbach fairly well, he had settled 2 of his 3 series there. In an interview he stated that he knew the areas of Kiel and Flensburg very well because his wife Inge comes from Schleswig, which is why he had chosen Kiel as a scene for Commissioner Soren Henning and his colleague Lisa Santos.
