Goldy Bear

The stories of the slightly chaotic amateur detective Goldy Bear play mostly in the small town located in the mountains Aspen Meadow, near Denver (Colorado). After the separation and divorce (called the puke) from her abusive ex-husband John Richard Kormann, Goldy is portrayed managing the "Goldilocks Party Service" that she has built up after the divorce, in order to earn a living for herself and her son.

Because of their activity and curiosity, they stumble regularly over corpses in their work and in private life. She investigates these cases assisted by her son Arch, her foster son Julian, her best friend Marla (the second ex-wife of Kotzbrocken), and policeman Tom Schulz.

Gradually, she gets to know Tom Schulz better, a good cook, just like her, and marries him in her fourth case.

The Mood

Diane Mott Davidson portrays the life of the single mother, cook and amateur detectives and her realistic economic problems gives great credibility to the character.

All people have their little quirks and idiosyncrasies, which results in that the reader sometimes gets the impression that it could very well be his own neighbourhood. The stories also give a detailed insight into local life and the seasons in Colorado.

Goldy prepares smaller or larger delicious meals in all of her books. Through these detailed and realistic descriptions we think regularly of the smell of hot biscuits, or the taste of warm hot chocolate or the feel of cheese sauce on the tongue. A special feature is that the reader may find several cooking and baking recipes in each of thrillers published.
