Storyline

Antiquarian bookseller and private detective Georg Wilsberg visits the Havenbroich Castle library and makes biologist Lisa Berendonk’s acquaintance on the castle grounds. Shortly after he is welcomed in the castle by college sweetheart Maria, who in the meantime has become the lady of the house.

On his way back he runs into Inspector Springer, who has been called in to investigate a crime that appears to have been committed in a cornfield part of the castle grounds. It is shown to be Lisa Berendonk’s body. Since the detective had just met the victim shortly beforehand, he gets curious and becomes involved in his own investigation of the happenings, without any commission. His investigations lead to the discovery of illegal field tests with genetically modified corn in this area. And before he knows it, Wilsberg becomes involved in an environmental scandal.
