Bull Ball

First Broadcast: November 25th 2011

Leonard Lansink as Detective Wilsberg

Storyline

Ekki Talkotter, tax auditor and private detective Wilsberg’s friend, has participated in a so-called bull ball – a very wild and happy annual party similar to Farmer Seeks Wife. The Motto was „Boys? The girls!“. Following this party Talkotter stands with his fellow driver Michael Klarmann on the side of a highway when Talkotter is shot. Klarmann is shot fatally by a second bullet.

Ekki Ekki Talkotter is under the belief that the deadly gunshot was actually meant for him. Since he probably has a lot of enemies due to his job as an tax auditor, it could only have been a coincidence that his fellow driver was the one shot by the bullet.

Naturally, Wilsberg does not let his friend down and begins the investigation. Based on his research, the private detective finds out that there are several persons who would have a motive to wish the death of Michael Klarmann. Klarmann’s father, whose motive lies in the bankruptcy of the family cement company, caused by Klarmann, is also among the suspects.

Farmer and hunter Ulf Hagen had trusted the victim with his finances, but he had used and lost his assets on risky speculations. The victim’s girlfriend could also be guilty. She could have found out that her boyfriend was broke and that he couldn’t offer her the kind of luxurious lifestyle she dreamed about.

Private detective Wilsberg is now and again tormented by unanswered questions. For example, why does the mother of the victim’s girlfriend live in Klarmann’s apartment without paying any rent? And does Nicole Ekki really love Talkotter or does she just need him, so that he would illegally settle her debts?

The police is relying on a family feud. However, when it comes to gunshots in the Ministry of Finance, Inspector Springer also jumps to the conclusion that Ekki Talkotter was actually the intended victim. Only private detective Wilsberg remains convinced that Ekki Talkotter came accidentally into the firing line.

Another crime takes placed afterwards. This does clarify a couple of the open questions, but makes the whole situation even more complicated..
