Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele
Stephanie Zimbalist as Private Detective Laura Holt
Storyline
Lester Shane is horrified when an obituary appears in various newspapers, claiming that he had died. He therefore turns to private detectives Remington Steele and Laura Holt in order to figure out what’s up with these ads.
Remington and Laura take on the assignment and begin their investigation. Shortly afterwards, however, their client, Lester, becomes victim to several attacks and barely manages to escape every time.
During their investigation, the two detectives talk with the doctor who issued the alleged death certificate of Lester Shane. They find out, however, that he had been murdered and when they want to visit the funeral home, this no longer exists.
The whole thing turns out to be rather mysterious. Investigations prove that for the past two years, the funeral company had belonged to the director of an insurance firm.
The detectives arrange for further inquiries and reveal a large-scale insurance fraud, because they are still various other people that are supposed to be dead. All these people, including their client, had signed a life insurance agreement with this company.
Lyndon, CEO of the insurance company, could keep the sums insured, provided he declared the insured persons dead.
