Storyline

Con artist Daniel Chalmers flees from London to the United States after a failed coup. Hoskins, an unscrupulous owner of a casino, has already murdered Chalmer’s partner and is now following the fugitive.

Under false pretenses, he succeeds in convincing Laura Holt to undertake the search for the fugitive Chalmers. The detective is not made aware of all the details of the commission. Chalmers is in fact much more than a con man on the run.

The con artist is actually a friend of her partner, Remington Steele’s, father and also his mentor. Laura is also not informed that Chalmers has meanwhile met with Remington and asked him to help him against Hoskins.

Steele and Chalmers have forged a plan of how they want to work together to outwit Hoskins on a bet. When Laura Holt starts following Chalmers, she begins to draw some conclusionsas to the connection between him and Remington Steele.

However, Laura's mother, Abigail, seems to be quite charmed by the English gentleman. Remington has his hands full in trying to convince Laura, Murphy and Abigail to participate in the ploy forged by Chalmers and himself.
