Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele
Stephanie Zimbalist as Private Detective Laura Holt
Storyline
Vinnie Dowd is convicted for life for the murder of sports star Lance Leblanc. Although Vinnie had not committed the murder, he admitted to the crime during the interrogations.
The reason for his confession is his incurable brain tumor. Vinnie had thought that he was going to die anyway, and at least his wife was protected by the reward they offered him.
He is treated by the prison dentist with a new method that leads to the drastic improvement of Vinnie’s health. After his complete recovery, he now wants to prove his innocence in the murder of Leblanc and escape from prison.
Seeking help, he turns to the Remington Steele Detective Agency, thus, Remington Steele and Laura Holt helping him prove his innocence and convicting the real perpetrator. Vinnie tells the two private investigators that his friend, Frank, can give him an alibi for the time of the crime.
Remington and Laura immediately approach Frank only to find out, however, that he had been murdered. The two private investigators are quite inclined to believe their client's innocence, but Lieutenant Zweigenhoff is firmly convinced that the escaped Vinnie has murdered his friend, Frank.
Vinnie Dowd situation has by no means improved through Frank's death and the investigation of Laura Holt and Remington Steele has also not made much progress.
