Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele
Stephanie Zimbalist as Private Detective Laura Holt
Storyline
It is tough for a crime writer to see their books selling millions of copies only to no longer find a publisher for their new works.
When the once highly successful author is offered a million for the film rights to his books, he naturally gladly accepts the proposal. But the night after signing the agreement, the author dies suddenly.
His entire legacy will go to the Association of American Crime Writers. When the association is suppresed one million U.S. dollars, private detectives Remington Steele and Laura Holt are appointed to investigate this case of embezzlement and to identify the perpetrators.
As part of their investigation, the two private investigators speak with several members of the association. They quickly realize that they most probably have a serious problem with the distinction between fiction and reality.
Furthermore, Remington Steele is not amused when he realizes that Laura is attracted to Butch Bemis, an author whose fictional heroes are characterised by chauvinistic machismo.
It seems to Remington as if this affected behaviour would not be limited to the fictional thriller hero, but is a trait of the author.
