Storyline
Eleanor Cooper suspects that her father, Johnny, is of unsound mind. To prove this, she asks private detectives Remington Steele and Laura Holt to surveil him.
During this assignment, the detectives should produce evidence, so that Eleanor Cooper can declare her father irresponsible for his own actions. Johnny Cooper is indeed in an emotionally stressful situation at the time, but he is far from certifiable.
His friend Chuck has recently died in a plane crash, and Johnny Cooper is convinced that Duncan Harlow has murdered his friend, Chuck. Since Duncan Harlow is currently exhibiting his pictures in the Murphy Museum, Harry has planned to break into the museum to steal his works.
After the raid, Remington Steele and Laura Holt question the thief, who has actually stolen only the pictures by Duncan Harlow. Johnny Cooper tells the two detectives about his theory that Harlow is responsible for the death of his friend Chuck and the private investigators make the instant decision of helping Johnny convict Duncan Harlow for his deed.
Based on their initial inquiries, Johnny Cooper and the detectives make a first attempt to prove Harlow’s guilt. But its failure cannot convince the three to discontinue the investigation.
With renewed strength, the three set out to complete their task.
