James Garner as Detective Rockford

 

Storyline

Peter Preli is an old friend of Rockford’s and contacts the private investigator because he is in trouble. His granddaughter, Houston, was kidnapped and he wants Rockford to try and find her. He also explains that he does not want to turn on the police.

Peter is murdered shortly after. Rockford’s investigations are threatened by some gangsters, who strongly insist that he keep his hands off the matter. However, Rockford continues his investigation.

Suddenly, however, the missing Houston turns up again. But she knows nothing of her abduction, she just says she had taken a trip to Mexico.
