James Garner as Detective Rockford
Storyline
A club owner has equipped the tables in his club with eavesdropping devices to gather information about various members of the mafia.
The gangsters, however, find out about these recordings and demand they have a talk. When he is interrogated and asked for the recordings, he decides to distract them by providing false information. After a quick look in the phone book, he claims he does not have the tapes, but that these would be in the possession of detective Rockford.
Soon after, Rockford's trailer is turned upside down and destroyed in search of the incriminating tapes recordings. Rockford, who, naturally, has nothing to do with it, can only prove his innocence by solving the case. He immediately begins his investigation.
